I thought you might like seeing my latest socks. They are knit from a bag of end pieces. Good yarn is so hard to toss out and if you are not into sock blankets, well what do you do with all those small balls of yarn? I am making frankensocks. Cute name and I didn’t come up with it but wish I had.
So here it what you do. Place all those small balls of yarn in a bag or a box , it really doesn’t matter how you store them. First get your needles ready and scissors, you will need scissors. Put your little hand into the bag (don’t look) and pull out a ball of yarn. Start your socks with this color. I am knitting mine cuff down. I work 15-20 rows of ribbing and then start a new color using a blender sock striping method.
After ribbing, new 2 rows, old 1 row, new 1 row, old 2 rows, new 3 rows, old 1 row. Cut your old color and the new color becomes the old color and you add another new color. For my socks I work 70 rows then I do my heel(I pick a variegated yarn for my heel). Right now I am loving the Fish Lips Kiss heel. After completing the heel I work another 45 rows using the blender method again and work you toe decreases. I love mine. Oh, for those that want to know I knit on size 1 US or 2.25mm needles, 60 stitches around and I wear a size 5 US shoe.
